Sultan of Sokoto lauds State Government’s Ramadan Feeding Programme

The spiritual leader of Muslims in Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has commended the state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, for the implementation of this year’s Ramadan feeding programme.

Sultan Sa’ad made the commendation while delivering his Sallah message at the Palace’s pavilion in Sokoto state

He expressed satisfaction with the large number of people fed under the statewide Ramadan feeding programme and called on the  Governor to sustain the gesture.

” I also like to commend the Governor for the financial assistance to the needy especially our Imams and  Quranic teachers across the State. 

“We equally appreciate the developmental projects being executed by the State Governor.  

“We therefore need to support him to do more for our dear State,” Sultan added.

He further thanked Governor Aliyu for giving half salary free to the civil Servants and pensioners in the State as a Ramadan gift, describing the gesture as the first of its kind in the State.

The Traditional leader further called on parents and guardians to ensure that their wards are enrolled into both Islamic and western schools for them to be useful members of the society.

“We need to take the issue of education very seriously if we want our State and country to develop,” he charged.

In a statement by Governor Aliyu’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, Sultan Sa’ad also called on the people of the State to continue to fervently pray for the nation’s leadership to succeed.

The event had in attendance the APC leader in the State, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, Muhammad Bello Goronyo,Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Idris Mohammed Gobir, Speaker, Sokoto State House of assembly Tukur Bala, Deputy Speaker Kabiru Ibrahim Kware and the State APC Chairman, Isa Saddiq Achida.

Other were the Secretary to the State Government, Muhammad Bello Sifawa, Chief of Staff Government House, Sokoto Aminu Haliru Dikko mni, lawmakers from both National and State Assemblies,members of the State Executive Council and Special Advisers among others.
