Super Eagles of Nigeria head coach, Jose Peseiro, said his side missed chances in its opening Africa Cup of Nations (AFCNON) Group A clash against Equatorial Guinea, adding that the team must rally against hosts Cote d’Ivoire for a chance for redemption.

Peseiro said this in Abidjan ahead of the crucial clash against the Ivorians on Thursday, January 18th. Nigeria struggled to convert numerous chances created in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday. However, Peseiro knows how clinical the Super Eagles have to be to beat a very strong Cote d’Ivoire team.

The coach said the technical crew was working round the clock to perfect strategies and ensure victory in the crucial match. Peseiro also appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the team and not engage in criticism that could dampen the morale of the players.

Nigeria will be boosted by the return of Kelechi Iheanacho from injury, as the Leicester City striker faces the race to be fit for the match against Cote d’Ivoire. He rejoined the Super Eagles training camp in preparation for the clash and completed a training session.

Striker Terem Moffi has arrived the Super Eagles camp and is currently part of the training, while Midfielder Yusuf Alhassan was also working sidelines as he recovers from injury.

The Super Eagles will be aiming for a strong performance when they play the host country in their next game and having key players like Iheanacho and Moffi in optimal condition enhances its chances of securing all three points.
