One of the foremost football supporters club in Nigeria, Authentic Football and Allied Supporters Club, has called on Nigerians to support the Super Eagles as they wait to know their next opponent in a World Cup qualifier play-off draws that will be conducted by FIFA on December 18, 2021.
The president of the supporters club, Abayomi Ogunjimi, said the Super Eagles need our support now more than ever and criticism would not do anybody any good. Rather, Nigerians should focus on rallying support for the team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the World Cup qualifiers in March, 2021.
“Criticism of the team would do nobody any good but a holistic support would go a long way in helping the player’s spirit going into the Nations Cup in Cameroon and the final phase of the qualifiers in March 2022,” Ogunjimi said.
“For us as Supporters we will not relent in giving out total support to the team no matter what while we also believe that the Nigerian spirit in them will see the prevail over all opposition and qualifies for the World Cup.”
The Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Cape Verde in its last group match to secure their place in the final World Cup playoffs.
