The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the appeal seeking to void the election of Ahmadu Fintiri as governor of Adamawa state.

After lawyers to parties made their final submissions, a five-member panel of the apex court led by Justice John Okoro, announced that judgment was reserved and parties would be notified when a date is fixed.

The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) had declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election in Adamawa State.

Mr Fintiri won the supplementary election with 9,337 votes, defeating his closest rival, Aisha Dahiru, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who came second in the poll with 6,513 votes.

Mr Fintiri and Mrs Dahiru were the major contenders in the governorship poll.

The Supreme Court also dismissed the appeal by the Social Democratic Party and its candidate, Umar Ardo, seeking to nullify Fintiri’s victory.

The Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal in Abuja had earlier dismissed the SDP case against Fintiri.
