The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court.

The National Chairman of APGA, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, while interacting with members of the Anambra State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Awka, the state capital, emphasized that the Tinubu-led administration started well and would reposition the country, if he implements up to 50 per cent of his campaign promises and policies.
Ezeokenwa also urged the candidates of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, and that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alh. Atiku Abubakar, to join hands with the President Tinubu to develop Nigeria, if they truly love the country.
“I congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the Supreme Court. It is a confirmation and testament that he won the election convincingly. I congratulate the Labour Party and PDP candidates for the courage to contend the election up to Supreme Court level.
“Now Tinubu’s victory has been confirmed, I want to charge the duo and all Nigerians to support him to move Nigeria forward. If the president can implement up to 50 per cent of his policies and campaign promises, the nation will witness rapid transformation.
“I urge him to urgently proffer solution to all our problems as soon as possible,” he stated.

The APGA chairman decried the trend of fake news and sensational reportage circulating online, pointing out that the traditional media practitioners should, as a matter of urgency, drive the social media in terms of strict adherence to the ethics of the profession and called for training and retraining of journalists to avoid infringements on other people’s rights on the altar of exercising the freedom of information and expression.

He extolled the Anambra State Council of the NUJ for mapping out a particular time of the year to celebrate journalists and their activities in the state.
“Such exercise would foster cohesion and enhance professionalism for journalists, especially in these days when junk journalism is trending with untrained citizen journalists, who tend to override the core professional journalists,” he noted.
