Journalists covering the 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) have been urged to embrace professionalism while discharging their duties at the ongoing Games in Asaba, Delta State.
President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Isaiah Benjamin, made the call during an interaction with his members at the Media Centre in the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
“I want to first of all thank God for bringing us all here safely for this 7th edition of the NYG. I want to commend you all for the massive publicity you have given the games so far and urge you to keep up the tempo,” Benjamin said.
“However, I must appeal to all to be factual in your reports as professional sports writers.”
According to a statement signed by his media aide, Okpani Dickson, the SWAN President while speaking further, harped on the need for members of the association to be united towards ensuring further progress.
“With unity, we can make solid progress.I urge us all to be united in our various state chapters,” he added.
“As your leaders, we are committed to giving your welfare and protection priority, together in unity we are stronger.”
