A strong lineup of 13 African stars, featuring Quadri Aruna, Omar Assar and Dina Meshref, will compete against the world’s best players at the prestigious 2025 Singapore Smash, scheduled to hold from January 30th – 9th February, at the Singapore Sports Hub, Singapore.

The Singapore Smash 2025 features the world’s top table tennis players competing for a total prize pool of USD 1.5 million across Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles events. The competition will also include the Singapore Youth Grand Smash and a Para Showcase, ensuring 11 days of exciting table tennis action.

Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna, fresh from a quarterfinal appearance at the WTT Contender in Doha earlier this month, will also feature in the main draw. Aruna has a history of success in Singapore, including a memorable quarterfinal run in 2023, where he defeated Japanese star Tomokazu Harimoto.

Egypt’s Assar, Africa’s top-ranked player, will kick off his 2025 campaign at the Singapore Smash, with a round of 16 finish in 2024 at the same event. The reigning African Champion is aiming for a strong start to the season.

Egyptian table tennis stars Dina Meshref (L) and Omar Assar (R).

Joining Assar and Aruna in the main draw are Mohamed Elbeiali, who recently signed with Saudi Arabia’s Alhada Club and Egypt’s Youssef Abdel-Aziz who remains confident in his search for WTT glory. Meanwhile, Senegal’s Ibrahima Diaw, Algeria’s Mehdi Bouloussa, and Egypt’s Mahmoud Helmy will begin their campaigns in the qualifying rounds.

Meshref leads the women’s contingent as she looks to rebound from an early exit in Doha. The Egyptian will be joined in the main draw by her compatriots Hana Goda and Mariam Alhodaby, both of whom are making their 2025 season debuts.

Goda, who enjoyed a breakthrough in 2024 with a WTT Champions quarterfinal appearance and an African Championship title, is expected to build on her impressive momentum.

Meanwhile, Egyptian duo Yousra Helmy and Fathy Hend, alongside Cameroon’s Sarah Hanffou, will compete in the qualifiers, hoping to secure spots in the main draw.
