Speaking at a news conference on Thursday in Lokoja, the State capital, the spokesperson for Ilonah/Bawa APGA Campaign Council in Kogi, Mr Aliyu Ibrahim, said the party’s candidate remained the most qualified and suitable among others.

“Ilonah is a man of capacity and has the ability to harness the fortunes of Kogi to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youths, provide quality functional education with improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the State.

“Our candidate has capacity. He is a man of integrity and competent to bring the desired development to Kogi.

“Ilonah is the most sellable among all other candidates presented by other political parties,” Ibrahim said.

He assured that an APGA government in Kogi would not rely on monthly allocations from the Federal Government to develop the State, if voted into power.

The spokesperson emphasized that the party was adequately prepared for the governorship election and urged the electorate to come out en masse to cast their votes for APGA.

“Kogi has huge challenges of unemployment, infrastructure deficit, youth restiveness, and low IGR that require urgent solutions.

“The rate of unemployment is very high in Kogi with prevalent poverty which must be urgently addressed.

“The citizens are suffering in the midst of plenty; Kogi is richly endowed with human and mineral resources.

“If elected as Kogi governor come November, our administration is poised to change the narratives within the shortest period,” he said.

He assured the people that under the APGA government, Kogi would largely depend on the internally generated revenue for its  development.

He stressed that an APGA administration would establish a fashion or garment industry in the State and explore several other avenues to avoid waiting for monthly allocations, promising to make youth empowerment the party’s focal point.

The spokesperson, therefore, urged the electorate to choose wisely and vote for Ilonah/Bawa APGA ticket in the forthcoming election in the State.

Also speaking, the APGA chairman in the State, Mr Moses Ajodo, affirmed that Ilonah has the capacity which he has proven over time in his private businesses.

“If Ilonah is given the opportunity to govern the confluence State, he would adequately utilize its numerous resources to the benefit of the people,” Ajodoh added.

For his part, the Director General, Ilonah/Bawa APGA Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Arikora, enjoined the party leaders and members to go back to their various local government areas and mobilize total support for the candidate.

Niger State: APC Governorship Candidate Promises Security, Infrastructural/ Socio-economic Development  https://von.gov.ng/niger-state-apc-governorship-candidate-promises-security-infrastructural-socio-economic-development/ https://von.gov.ng/niger-state-apc-governorship-candidate-promises-security-infrastructural-socio-economic-development/#respond Wed, 08 Feb 2023 19:37:31 +0000 https://von.gov.ng/?p=207279 The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Niger state, Hon. Mohammed Bago, says he plans to embark on provision of security, infrastructural and socio-economic development of the state when elected into office.
Hon. Bago gave the assurance during the launch of a book titled ‘Law and Governance in Nigeria’ and a fund-raising ceremony in Abuja.
The event was attended by Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state; the National Assembly caucuses; the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; the Speaker and members of the Niger State House of Assembly as well as members of the State Executive cabinet; and captain of industries, among others.

Strategic Plans for Niger State

‘In a nutshell, we want to bring new change to Niger state. We want to rebrand Niger state so that we can be part of the newest economy in Nigeria.
‘As you are aware, Niger state is the largest state in Nigeria in terms of land mass
‘We have 76,000 square kilometres of arable land. We have 4 hydro power stations in Niger and yet we don’t have irrigation dams in Niger state; so we only wait for raining season.
‘We want to be agric giant in this country and an industrial giant for that matter.

‘We are already talking to and want to collaborate with the traditional institutions very importantly to curb insecurity.

‘We have travelled around Niger state for the campaign, and we’ve seen how people live and how our bushes are, and how our local governments are.

‘There is need for the government at the centre of the state to connect with traditional institutions and the local institutions to curb insecurity, and by the grace of God it will be a thing of the past,’ the APC governorship candidate assured.

The Current New Naira Notes Scarcity

While responding to the challenges posed by scarcity of the new naira currency notes and fuel scarcity as an issue in this upcoming election, Hon. Bago averred that ‘the problem is generic as far as I am concerned.
People who are advising for the redesign of the naira and the implementation of the policy are not being considerate of the plight of the people.
‘Politicians, who have money are not raising funds, so they don’t care whether you change money or you don’t change money.
‘The fuel scarcity is purely sabotage and there is need for the government of the day to make sure that it enforces or puts agencies in charge of this industry at work so that there will be availability of fuel.
‘But I believe this would be short-lived because you know the triumph of evil is short-lived anytime,’

The Niger State Governor

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger state, North-central Nigeria.

In his keynote address, the Niger state governor, Abubakar Bello, who threw his weight behind the candidature of Hon. Bago and his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, expressed optimism that the ruling party would record landslide victory during the forthcoming elections.
‘There is a bond between us that two of us know, a bond of trust and mutual understanding. He has supported me when I needed support.
‘But let me tell you something, probably the most important thing about our incoming governor: he will never abandon you; if he’s with you, he’s with you. If he’s not with you, he’s not with you.
‘I remember after my second term election, usually when people win their election they go back to do their thing. This gentleman came back to me and he stayed. He stayed to the last day, and that I will never forget and I really appreciate it.
‘The people of Niger state have spoken and I deliberately refused to get involved in the primaries even with all the pressure, with all the lobbying; I said let the will of the people speak.
‘Whenever you allow the will of the people to speak, you won’t have problems in the general election. What we are seeing today in Niger state, the acceptance and the reception during the campaigns is as a result of allowing people to decide who they want.
‘Campaigns have been completed in two zones, and I can tell you that in those two zones we scored 90 per cent. The only one zone that is left won’t be any different.

‘…We brought you all here not just to look at your faces. We brought you all here to support us. Support this process and you will never regret it.
‘For those of you that have the means, I hereby indulge you to please and please support this cause to the fullest. Trust me, it’s an investment worth it.
‘Some of us mentioned earlier on that things are difficult: fuel scarcity, cashless this cashless that, yes it is true. But with determination and the will of the people, we will make it. Fuel scarcity –   all these issues will stop at some point; it will stop.
”All the governors of Nigeria are concerned about what is going on; so, that shouldn’t distract us. We should be very optimistic. We should go to our polling stations and vote for Hon. Mohammed Bago as Niger state governor and Comrade as his deputy governor,’ he appealed.

Hon. Sergius Ogun Rallies Support

In his remarks, a member of the 9th Assembly, Hon. Sergius Ogun (PDP-Edo), who rallied support for Hon. Bago, applauded his contributions to the establishment of the Maritime University, located in Okerenkoko Delta state.
‘We don’t know he might back down last minute but it turned out despite all the pressure on him, he didn’t.
‘Imagine if we had all stayed with him and on that day he backed down, but my relationship with him has remained since then.
‘He’s somebody you will call, he will pick your call when you need him to be by you; he will be there and we have developed such wonderful relationship since then.
‘Well, I can only wish him the best. As you know, we are not members of the same party, but he’s a good friend. He has a good heart and I know he will do a lot for his state so I wish him all the best.
‘I met him in the House in the last Assembly, and as the Chairman of Maritime, I know he was very instrumental to the Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko in Delta state.
‘I remembered they had issues, so many issues. He went, he fought for it. I don’t know if you have been to Gbaramantu, those axis, you know he went there. I mean for a northerner to fight for a tertiary institution in a body of water. He went through the search and ensured that the institution was approved.
‘I mean that speaks to the fact of what we have heard here today that when he’s with you and determined to do something, he will go all the way. So that’s the kind of person he is, and like someone has said here, Niger state will be very lucky to have a guy like him as the governor,’ said Hon. Sergius Ogun.

For his part, the NNPP gubernatorial aspirant promised to promote policies and programmes that would improve the security and socio-economic well-being of the citizens, if given the mandate.
Maidoya, who was overwhelmed by the turnout of Igbo supporters, described the NNPP as a replica of the defunct Nigeria People’s Party (NPP) of the Nigerian Second Republic, 1979-1983, which tried to promote social justice and social change as vital ingredients of its mission as well as create a national outlook.
Similarly, the Gbagyi community in the Nasarawa local government area also pledged its support to the NNPP gubernatorial candidate.

The youth chairman of the Gbagyi community, Moses Kuku, described the Gbagyis as a community of peace-loving people and stressed the need for harmony to ensure the progress and development of the state.

Prayers were offered for a peaceful conduct of the 2023 elections.

Oyo State Accord Party Governorship Candidate Flags Off Campaign  https://von.gov.ng/oyo-state-accord-party-governorship-candidate-flags-off-campaign/ https://von.gov.ng/oyo-state-accord-party-governorship-candidate-flags-off-campaign/#respond Wed, 25 Jan 2023 23:18:37 +0000 https://von.gov.ng/?p=203331 The Accord Party gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, popularly called ‘Penkelemes’, on Wednesday flagged off his governorship campaign.
Thousands of residents of Oyo state, including traders, market men and women, trade groups, artisans, community leaders and traditional leaders, among others, thronged out to show their solidarity, commitment and support for the governorship ambition of the former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The carnival-like event, which held at the Town Hall (Soun Ogunlola Hall), Oja’agbo, Ogbomoso, was attended by the national and state leadership of the party and all candidates aspiring to elective positions in the February 25th National Assembly and March 11th State Assembly elections.
Addressing the crowd, Adelabu said the forthcoming elections would afford the people of the state an opportunity to right all the wrongs, alleging misrule and maladministration under the current government of Governor Seyi Makinde of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He accused the Makinde administration of running out of ideas that could transform the state, saying the government had resolved to copying some of the ideas he (Adelabu) had been sharing on how he planned to transform the state.
Adelabu noted that the state of education had taken a turn for the worse under Makinde’s watch, saying that all semblance of improvement and achievements made by previous administrations in the state had been rubbished by the present PDP government in the state.
He appealed to the people to show their commitment to a new Oyo state by voting for candidates of the Accord Party in the forthcoming elections.
According to the gubernatorial aspirant, he opted for a woman as his running mate because the party believed in the capacity and capabilities of women, while assuring that his deputy would not just be a “spare tyre,” as many would call it.
Speaking earlier, the national chairman of the Accord Party, Alhaji Mohammad Nalado, commended the people for coming out en masse to show their love and support to the party candidates, particularly Adelabu.
Corroborating Adelabu’s choice of a female running mate, Nalado said,
“Our party believes in equity, fairness and oneness, hence we have a female as our national secretary. We are even allowing the first female deputy governorship candidate for Oyo state.”
He urged the people to, through their votes, support Adelabu and his running mate, Prof. (Mrs) Abiodun Ayandele as well as all other candidates for the National and State Assembly elections to bring about transformation in the state.
In their separate remarks, the three senatorial candidates of the party: Kolapo Kola-Daisi (Oyo South), Shina Peller (Oyo North) and Nurudeen Faozey (Oyo Central) pledged to work together to support the state and design youth-oriented and women-friendly programmes and plans for the state.

The state Chairman of NNPP, AbdulRazaq Abdulsalam, announced this in Ilorin, the state capital, on Monday shortly after the party stakeholders’ meeting with AbdulRaheem.

According to him, the party picked Professor Oba Abdulraheem as its governorship candidate, stressing that he is now a full-fledged member of the NNPP.

Abdulsalam disclosed that AbdulRaheem would attend the meeting of all the NNPP gubernatorial candidates in Abuja on Tuesday this week.

In his reaction, the endorsed gubernatorial candidate, AbdulRaheem, confirmed he has wholly joined the NNPP.

He expressed his preparedness to join with other eminent Nigerians and Kwarans to take the party to a greater height.

He added that the leadership of the party, particularly Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the party’s presidential candidate, is a politician with a high level of integrity that one can reckon with.

Abduraheem, who is the Talba of Ilorin, disclosed he has moved around most political parties after he retired from public service and realised that the NNPP is the only party that has people with integrity and genuine love of the people at heart. Not politicians that are greedy, self-centered, and opportunistic.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to embrace the party and vote for its candidates massively during the 2023 general elections, boosting that the Kwarans have already accepted the party and his candidacy.

In his remarks, the Kwara North Senatorial candidate of the NNPP, Dr. Kolo Baba Jiya, said the party will form government in Kwara State come 2023, describing it as a credible party that the electorate should join.

He expressed confidence in the ability of AbdulRaheem to lead the party to victory in the forthcoming elections and return Kwara to the path of progress and greatness.

Kolo added that they would soon hold a more elaborate event where the party’s gubernatorial candidate would be presented to the public.

Another party member in the state, Ope Saraki, described the coming and endorsement of Professor Oba Abdulraheem as a significant assertion to the party.

According to him, the former Vice-Chancellor and Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC, had touched many lives positively when he held those positions and therefore enjoined Kwarans to support him in his gubernatorial ambition.
