“Take welfare of members seriously” – Minister urges NULGE

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has urged the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE to always take the welfare of its members seriously.

The Minister stated this during the 7th Quadrennial delegates Conference of NULGE held in Abuja the nation’s capital.

While describing NULGE as an engine room of any successive administration, she charged the union to always check the excesses of government at the grassroots level

The Minister who was represented by her Special Assistant on Area Council matters and Chieftancy Affairs, Mohammed Saba, noted that FCTA would continue to accord the union all the necessary support that would enable it to strive in the task before it.

Dr Aliyu who commended the outgoing executives of the union for living up to the expectations of their members urged the incoming executive to follow suit in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing President of NULGE, FCT Chapter, Comrade Abubakar Alhassan Yakub, said the delegates’ election was in line with rule 7 of the NULGE Electoral Regulations hence all the elected executives remained validly nominated for their various elected positions.

Comrade Yakub commended members of the union for their peaceful disposition during the election and urged the newly elected executives to always work for the interest of their members.

All those that contested for the various  FCT NULGE position returned unopposed during the quadrennial delegate conference held in Abuja on Wednesday 13th of October 2021 and will pilot the affairs of the union for the period of four years.

The newly elected State Chairman of the union in FCT, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi, thanked members for giving them the opportunity to lead them for the period of four years and promised not to betray the confidence reposed on them.

He assured it members that one of the major tasks before the newly elected executive is to see the actualisation of payment of outstanding salary arrears of staff of the Area Council.

The National President of NULGE, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji urged the newly elected executives to consolidate on the past achievements of the outgoing executive for the benefit of their members.

Amongst others that returned unopposed were; Comrade David Jazhi Iyah- Deputy President, Comrade Hannatu Abdullahi – Chairperson Women Committee, Comrade Bala Tukura – State Treasurer, Comrade Abubakar Forgbe – Treasurer l, Comrade Musa Gideo – Treasurer ll

Others were; Comrade Alherin Sale – Welfare, Comrade Salihu Mohammad – Auditor, Comrade Iswa Asher – Auditor ll, Comrade Goje Daniel – Publicity Secretary and Comrade Adamu Yahaya – Young worker
