The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has declared his commitment to sustaining the close collaboration between the state government and the Nigerian Army (NA) to improve the security of Taraba State.
The Governor, accompanied by legislators of Taraba State extraction from the National and Taraba State House of Assemblies, made the declaration when he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede at the Army Headquarters on Monday, 17 March 2025.
According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Governor Kefas appreciated the commitment and sacrifice of the troops of the Nigerian Army, especially the 6 Brigade in Jalingo, in their effort towards enhancing the security of the state.
He gave assurances of his administration’s continued support to the troops to discharge their duties effectively.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), commended the governor and the good people of Taraba State for their unflinching support of the Nigerian Army in the state, pledging the readiness of the NA to improve security in the state and the nation in general.
General Oluyede assured him that the Army remains committed to defending the nation as well as combating terrorism and insurgency to ensure lasting peace in the country.
“We recognise the importance of security in fostering development, and I assure you that we are resolute in our mission to stamp out crime and maintain peace, not only in Taraba State but the nation as a whole,” he stressed.
The visit underscores a shared commitment to enhancing security and promoting economic growth in Taraba State and the nation at large, marking a positive step towards a safer and more prosperous future for the citizenry.
