The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has raised alarm over the invasion of Cameroonian Separatists in the state, North East, Nigeria.

The Governor disclosed this when he visited Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa in Defence Headquarters Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He noted that for the past few months, the Cameroonian separatists have been threatening his state on the shared boundary with Cameroon.

He said: “The state wants to continue a good relationship with Cameroon for they are doing business and a lot of activities going on in the areas but everyday problems from the Amazonia rebels, so they want the military to look into that and see how they can present the truth.

Their presence in the state is very heavy and the troops are doing a wonderful job in Taraba State adding that they are playing the role they’re supposed to play and he knows that this is because they have a central command that is effective, efficient and also maintain communication on troops on the ground.

He assured the CDS that the people of Tarawa state were open and in whatever capacity we are to assist the troop to function, they are ready to do that.

According to him, the troops have embarked on serious operations to clean up the presence of bandits especially in those ungoverned spaces in the States.

He said that “the first thing he did when he took over office was he discovered that one of the things attractive people to Taraba is mining activities, and the first step he took was to suspend all mining activities, whether legal or illegal”.

And I went through several criticisms, but at the end of the day, I was able to stand my ground in security and resist most of the environment and the federal government. Usually, when I see some other state I also follow suit. This achievement is also contributed by the presence of the military,” he said.

The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, assured him that since security is most important in the state, the Armed Forces will do anything possible to tackle any security challenges facing the state. Without security, nothing good comes in.

General Musa said that “the challenges they are having are man-made and whenever they want, it will be solved adding that it is about equity, Justice and Oneness”.

He noted that Taraba State is unique, every aspect of it is highly blessed, both human, mineral, natural and everything.

He assured that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is solidly behind the state to ensure that there is peace in the areas.

He used the opportunity to tell the governor not to hesitate to report any troop that misbehaved, letting them know when to live in clear terms. There have been talks they have been trained on the modern responsibilities of the idea to protect and bring peace nothing much more than that.
