The Taraba State Police Command has arrested two suspected boko haram members in Bali local government and Tella town of Gassol Local Government Area.
The Police Commissioner, Shaba Alkali told journalists in Jalingo, that the two suspects had already been handed over to the military in Yobe state.
Alkali said the arrest was made possible following a tip off from some Nigerians and that the command would not relent in its efforts to prevent the fleeing members of the sect from gaining access to the state.
The Taraba State Police Command also announced that some suspected prominent persons, believed to be sponsors of the incessant upheavals in Ibi local government councils of the state, had also been arrested.
Citing some recent unrest in the area, which has led to wanton destruction of lives and property, the Taraba State Police Commissioner said the command would not leave any stone un-turned to bring sponsors of crisis in the state to book.
The Police Commissioner said two visiting mobile police units from nearby states, had been deployed to Ibi Local Government Council to flush out what he called “undesirable elements”.
“I cannot be here and allow crisis to continue in this state.”
Alkali stressed that the public should always make relevant information available to the police, which would assist the command crack down on the actual people behind any mayhem in the state.
Over seven death and several houses, were recently recorded in skirmishes that erupted in Ibi between the Hausa and the Jukun ethnic groups.
