Taraba State Governor presents N146 billion for 2022 appropriation bill

Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku has presented to the State House of Assembly, 146, 781,653,671,82 budget appropriation bill for the 2022 fiscal year.
The budget tag, Budget of hope and consolidation represents an increase of 5,156,217,710,.0 or 3.64% increase than the 2021 approved budget.
According to governor Ishaku, as a sub national government with no control over money policy, the State budget was a key fiscal policy tool and only opportunity to isolate the State economy from negative shock and turn the tide toward growth and development as it was also a mechanism to achieving the rescue agenda.
” We have done alot with previous budget approved especially in the area of road construction, education and health, even though we have been constraint by the economic reality occasioned by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic but we are ever committed to do more for our people,” he said.
He said the 2022 budget was guided by the macroeconomics variables as determined by the Nigerian government like, International oil price benchmark of $57 000 per barrel, oil production quotes of 1.88m per barrel, United States dollar exchange rate to N410.15, inflation rate of 13% and A GDP growth rate of 4.20%
Earlier, the speaker Taraba State House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini stated that the previous appropriation bills presented by governor Ishaku since 2016 were able to put smiles on the faces of the people.
The speaker said, due to the governor’s dogged commitment to maintain cordial and harmonious working relationship with all branches of government in the state particularly the legislature, the Assembly would be mindful of the imperative and sensitive nature of the timely processing and passage into law of the appropriation bill.
