Taylor Swift throws support behind Olympian Simone Biles
American musician Taylor Swift has joined a growing number of celebrities that have thrown their support for Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.
Biles clinched a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Tuesday – after stepping aside from three previous events, citing mental health concerns.
There was an initial backlash by a section of public opinion who accused the world and Olympic legend of under-cutting the medal chances of the United States in Tokyo.
But Swift, in a new video, says Biles is a heroine on and off the field of sports.
“Throughout the last week, her voice has been as significant as her talents. Her honesty as beautiful as the perfection that had long been her signature,” she said.
