Team Nigeria’s World Athletics Championships Day 5 Preview

Voice of Nigeria brings the full schedule of all Team Nigeria events on Day 5 of the World Athletics Championships taking place in Budapest, Hungary. Follow us for the latest fixtures and results.

On Day 4 of the championships, Nigeria’s only contestant Tobi Amusan advanced to the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m Hurdles event after finishing third-fastest overall in the qualifying heats.

Favour Ofili (Women’s 200m Heats)

Team Nigeria athlete Favour Ofili will be competing in the Women’s 200m Heats at the World Athletics Championship by 10:20am (WAT).

Her last appearance for Nigeria was at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham when she raced to Silver behind Elaine Thompson in the women’s 200m.

Alaba Akintola (Men’s 200m Heats)

Nigerian sprinter Alaba Akintola will also be competing in the Men’s 200m Heat by 11:15am (WAT).

Akintola will have to be at his best in Round 1 of the 200m Heats for a chance to qualify for the semi-finals.

Sade Olatoye (Women’s Hammer Throw) 

Team Nigeria’s Sade Olatoye will feature in the Women’s Hammer Throw Qualification B by 19:35pm (WAT), at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest.

The African champion will be looking to go one step further this year in a bid to win a medal.

Tobi Amusan (Women’s 100m Hurdles)

Reigning World champion and World Record Holder Tobi Amusan will be competing in the Women’s 100m hurdles semifinals by 19:45pm (WAT).

Amusan advanced to the semi-finals of the Women’s 100m Hurdles event after finishing third-fastest overall in the qualifying heats.
