Tennis: Nigerian Teenage Sensation Earns Wimbledon Wild Card Slot
14-year-old tennis sensation Oluwaseun Ogunsakin has made history to become the first Nigerian homegrown player to earn a wild card slot to participate in the prestigious junior event at Wimbledon.
Ogunsakin was awarded a spot after he emerged as the U-14 African champion at the International Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis junior championships held in Lome, Togo.

The Ekiti State born tennis star will also be the first Nigerian to feature at any level of Grand Slam since Toni Mmoh in 1987.

The top ranked U-14 African tennis player will make his debut at the 2023 edition of Wimbledon, scheduled to take place from July 3rd – 16th in London, England.
Ogunsakin also bagged an ITF scholarship which will enable him compete at a European Tour in France and at the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship in the United States, before competing at Wimbledon in July.
