The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Architect Sonny Echono, says the funding body remains committed to ensuring that interventions it facilitates are sustained and improved.

Architect Echono made this known during the commissioning ceremony of three newly completed projects at the Kwara State University, (KWASU).

He stated that TETFund was positioned to enable public tertiary institutions in Nigeria take on bigger and more impactful projects that will make them globally competitive.

The TETFund boss disclosed that over ₦12 billion had been allocated to Kwara State University since 2010 for infrastructure related interventions, noting that the University has put the funds received to excellent use.

“So far, 76.11% of these funds have already been accessed for the provision of requisite facilities in the university.”

“We believe the projects undertaken with these funds have remarkably impacted on the mandate of the university in facilitating teaching, learning, and research.”

“I therefore wish to commend the management of the university for not only following the master plan layout but also ensuring the engagement of competent professionals for the design of the structures and monitoring the delivery of the various intervention projects executed from inception, some of which we are assembled here to commission today,” he said.

In his address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, described the facilities sponsored by TETFund as creating a vibrant atmosphere that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among members of the university community.

He added that the infrastructure provided by TETFund serves as a testament to the commitment of promoting educational excellence and for uplifting the standard of higher education in Nigeria.

The projects that were commissioned were the Senate Building, the College of Engineering Workshop Extension, and the Centre for Sustainable Energy Building.
