The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF), North East Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Gold Chibuisi, has reiterated his commitment to ensuring a peaceful operating environment for the youth corps members by providing adequate security during orientation programmes in the camp.
He assured the leadership of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) of the Command’s continuous support when the Director General (DG) NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed paid him a courtesy visit at Heaquarters, Theatre Command Maiduguri, Borno state.
General Chibuisi who expressed delight at receiving the Director General and his team, stated that Operation HADIN KAI was on top of the security situation in the North East, adding that Corps members are like his children whom he needs to look after their welfare.
Earlier, the DG NYSC disclosed that the purpose of his visit was to appreciate the Theatre Commander for his great support, adding that the resumption of orientation camp programme in Maiduguri was as a result of the security provided by the military and other security agencies.
Brig Gen Ahmed also stated that the visit was to assess the ongoing orientation programme for corps members of Batch C stream 1.
The visit was attended by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj Gen OM Bello, General Officer Commanding 7 Division/ Commander Sector 1 JTF Operation HADIN KAI Maj Gen PP Malla, State Coordinator NYSC Borno State Mr. Adamu Chiya and other senior officers.
In another development, the Theatre Commander Operations Hadin Kai in Maiduguri inaugurated the maiden Counter – Improvised Explosive Device Basic Field Exploitation Course 1/2023 organized by the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT).
This is part of effort to improving the skills of operators of Explosive Ordnance Devices (EOD) in the North East (NE) theatre of operations.
The Theatre Commander, Major General Gold Chibuisi, while declaring the 10-day training course open at the Theatre Training School Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, disclosed that the training was tailored towards equipping the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge required to mould them into better EOD operatives that will be professionally responsive.
He emphasized that Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) had become a portent weapon used by the terrorists in perpetrating their dastardly acts in the NE, pointing out that he was delighted that the EOD teams are doing a better job to destroy and detonate IEDs across the theatre.
He urged the participants to think outside the box and extend their actions in tackling bobby traps as well as make the course a worthy endeavour to save lives of troops and civilians.
The Commander 47 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General KO Ukandu appreciated the BMATT for organising the course, noting that the participants who were drawn from the military and other security agencies in Maiduguri, were lucky to be nominated for the course.
