Three Kano Local Council Chairmen Defect From APC To NNPP

Three Local Government Chairmen in Kano State North West Nigeria have decamped to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They decamped alongside their councillors and women leaders.

The decampees include Ado Tambai Kwa, Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Council, the immediate constituency of the acting National Chairman of APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Kwa dumped APC to NNPP along with his deputy Garba Yahaya Labour and other councillors.

Others are the chairman of Garun Malam Local Government, Mudassir Aliyu, and the chairman of Nasarawa Local Government, Lawan Aramposu who all decamped from APC to NNPP.

The state chairman of the NNPP, Hashimu Dungurawa while introducing the new party members to the governor, stated that it is the exemplary leadership qualities of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf that attracted the APC members to the NNPP.

Announcing their defection, the local government chairmen said, they are back home due to the genuine policies and programmes of NNPP.

The Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf who announced the expiration of the tenure of the 44 Local Government Chairmen, expressed delight with the defection of the three Local Government Chairmen, describing it as a genuine decision for progress.

He said NNPP policies are people’s oriented aimed at delivering good governance.

He promised to work together with all the decampees for the progress of Kano state.

You are our brothers and we shall work together as one family to move Kano state forward.

“Our idea of politics today is that of helping the people and not that of looting public funds or engaging youths in acts of drug abuse. It is a politics of reviving Kano state in its glory”.

The Governor called on the leadership of NNPP to embrace the decampees and involve them in all the affairs of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

He said the government is aware of the current hardship facing the people as efforts are on to bring succour to their plights.

Kano State Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Gwarzo expressed happiness with the defection of the elected and serving Chairmen and their councillors.

He applauded their decision to change their political movement to Kwankwasiyya.

Gwarzo said the Kwankwasiyya movement is a movement of transparency championed by honesty and accountability in delivering good governance to the people of Kano state.
