Security has been tightened up at the National Assembly Complex and its environs ahead of Tuesday’s official inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
The security forces deployed comprising personnel of the Nigerian Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS) and the in-House security outfit, known as Sergeant-at-Arms, arrived at the National Assembly Complex in their combat outfits.
The security personnel were seen awaiting the official brief on duty posts.
Meanwhile, the entire National Assembly Complex, the make-shift Chamber of the House of Representatives and The Senate are now wearing a new look, while large sizes of customized canopy tents have been erected at the National Assembly Arcade for guests, who would not gain access to the two Chambers.
Accreditation for lawmakers, the media, security personnel, members of staff and others has been concluded with different sectors having different colours of accreditation tags.
All the heads of security agencies attached to the National Assembly were on ground to oversee the accreditation exercise.
The Director for Information at the National Assembly, Mr. Roland Agada, was seen going from one point to the other, making sure that the media crew was accredited.
