The newly appointed Nigerian leader of the Tijjaniyya Islamic Sect, the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, says he would prioritize restoration of value and dignity of the family institution in his leadership position.
The Emir who is a renowned advocate of free family life devoid of molestation, child abuse and any other social vices, promised to continue where he stopped after he was dethroned by Kano State Government in 2019.
He explained that his main task now is how to change the narratives of family and child birth system amongst the Muslim Umma.
He also identified educational backwardness amongst Muslim Umma in Nigeria and the endemic poverty which breed insecurity.
Sanusi added that the North today and generally Nigerian Muslims need a way out of the series of challenges facing them and his task is to proffer active solutions that will help them out.
“I will ensure that there is first, unity amongst all our followers and respect for one another; this will smoothly pave way for the strengthening of our collective goals that will lead us out of the quagmire we are in today”, he said
Sanusi who was a one-time CBN Governor in Nigeria also denied any rift between him and Sheik Dahiru Bauchi following his new appointment as Khalifa of the Tijjaniyya.
“Dahiru Bauchi remains my Islamic teacher and father, a close friend to my grandfather, Sarki Sanusi I, whom he respected so much and there was no time they had any open or secret dispute. My appointment was done justifiably”, he said.
The Emir said, “normally the Tijjaniyya global leaders on their own appoints whosoever they wish as the Grand Khalifa of Tijjaniyya but in my own case, the overall World Leader Sheik Mahi Niyyas came to Nigeria and sampled different opinions on who should be the new leader after Sheik Isiyaku Rabiu.
“He was convinced on my appointment because it was a unanimous choice and there was never a time Sheik Dahiru Bauchi disputed it; so you could see we are one indivisible family”, Sanusi added.
