The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu, has scheduled his campaign rallies in Anambra and Imo States for Mondays, despite the ongoing Monday sit-at-home directives in the Southeast by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

According to the timetable released by the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), the former Lagos Governor will hold a campaign rally and engage party stakeholders in Imo State on Monday, November 21. The schedule of activities also revealed that on Monday, January 30, the campaign train would move to Anambra State.

Recall that IPOB had in August 2021 declared the Monday sit-at-home as a move to protest and demand the release of their leader Nnamdi Kanu who has been in the Department of State Services, DSS. Mondays were usually days of paralysed activities in the South-East regions, with many at home or using the day to observe specific meetings, especially when the IPOB leader appeared in court.

Although the leadership of the secessionist group had announced the cancellation of the sit-at-home order, some communities continue to enforce the directive to date.

However, according to the revised timetable for the Tinubu campaign, there will be a series of rallies in November.

Delta State, November 19,

Imo State, November 21,

Adamawa State November 24,

Ogun State November 26,

Enugu State November 29 and Sokoto November 30, respectively.

The Campaign spokesperson for Tinubu, Festus Keyamo, said that the schedule of events and dates was a working draft, which was still subject to further changes.

“They are all subject to change or amendments as we progress because of human factors. Nobody expected the flood, for example. But it came, and suddenly, it slowed down activities.

“So this is a working draft which we have to work with all things being equal.”

Also, between December 4 and 10, the campaign team has agreed to embark on international engagement with stakeholders in Diaspora.
