Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League encounter, as both sides could not be separated after a thrilling North London derby, at the Emirates Stadium in London, England.
The hosts started with Eddie Nketiah in attack, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus supporting on the flanks. For the visitors, Heung-min Son featured up-front while Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski were on the wings.
The Gunners opened the scoring when defender Cristian Romero deflected Saka’s shot into his own net as Arsenal controlled the opening exchanges.
However, Spurs found a way back into the match when Son equalised just before half-time to make the scores 1-1.
In the second half, Arsenal were awarded a penalty when Ben White’s goal-bound shot struck Romero’s hand. Winger Saka stepped up for the spot-kick and fired the ball into the net past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Arsenal had reestablished the lead but more was to come in yet another thrilling episode of the famous North London derby.
Substitute Jorginho, who came on for the injured for Declan Rice, then handed Tottenham the equaliser when he was robbed off the ball in midfield by James Maddison. The midfielder then found Son on the counter-attack and the Asian placed the ball calmly past goalkeeper David Raya to make the scores 2-2.
The match finished 2-2 as both sides could not find the net late in the encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
The draw leaves both sides four (4) points behind Manchester City after six games.
