James Sylvester Lafia
Nigerian Institute of Town Planners Nasarawa State has called on the state government to strengthen all relevant agencies to ensure strict enforcement of laws on Urban and Regional Planning to enhance socio economic growth of the state.
The state Chairman of the institute Dr. Daniel Adamu stated this at a one day convention of town planners in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital
According to Dr. Adamu, as part of steps to open up major areas especially Karu and Lafia the state capital for robust economic viability, there was urgent need to adopt strategic action plan toward addressing cases of indiscriminate erection of structures in those areas without recourse to proper planning.
He lamented that due to the strategic location of Nasarawa State, proactive measures should be put in place to decongest the major towns of the state particularly unapproved settlement areas and other structures without proper plans to check cases of building collapse and other unwholesome activities.
Dr. Daniel Adamu however applauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for awarding contracts for the construction of Ultra Modern Motor Parks and markets in some selected major local government areas of the state.
Highpoint of the convention was election of new officials to pilot the affairs of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners in Nasarawa State.
