A devastating fire broke out at the popular Farm Center GSM market in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State, destroying more than 300 shops and leaving traders counting heavy losses.

The inferno, which reportedly began around 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the Dan Sileka building within the market, rapidly consumed stalls stocked with mobile phones, accessories, and other electronic items before it was brought under control by the Kano State Fire Service.

Emergency responders from the fire service acted swiftly to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the bustling market.

Shortly after the incident began, the Executive Chairman of Tarauni LGA, Ahmed Muhammad visited the scene to assess the damage and show solidarity with affected traders.

Speaking at the site, Muhammad expressed his sympathy and urged government agencies, humanitarian organisations, and members of the public to rally support for the victims.

He also stressed the importance of implementing proactive safety measures to prevent future disasters and offered prayers for those affected, asking Allah to replenish their losses.

Leaders of the market community, including Jamilu Bala Gama, Chairman of the Farm Center GSM Traders Association, and Alhaji Abdula’ziz Usman Mai Tabarma, the Market Managing Director, expressed gratitude to Tarauni LG Chairman for his prompt response.

They acknowledged the ongoing investigation into the cause of the fire and praised the fire service for their timely and brave efforts in containing the situation.

The market executives also prayed for divine protection against future tragedies, as recovery efforts begin for the many traders whose livelihoods were impacted.
