Trading week begins on negative note with 0.07% loss

At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange , a total of 194.1 million shares with market value of N2.82 billion were traded in 4,899 deals.

The day’s trading ended with the all share index shedding 0.07 per cent to close at 52.791.45 points as against 51.829.67 at the close of trading last week.

The market capitalisation also dipped by N20 billion to close the day at N27,921 from N27, 941 last Friday.

A total of 101 listed equities participated in the trading and it ended with 17 gainers and 19 losers.

Top on the gainers list for the day was Fidson Healthcare with 9.82% share price appreciation to close at N12.30 per share, followed by Learn Africa which gained 9.78% to close at N2.47k then UPDC gained 9.71% to close at N1.13k.

On the losing side, MRS Oil Nigeria came out last with a loss of 11.08% at NGN 14.45 per share, followed by Conoil with 9.9% loss and a closing price of N25.95 while Red Star Express lost 9.09% to close at N2.50k.

Transcorp Nigeria recorded the highest volume of 25.1 million traded shares, followed by Guaranty Trust Holding with 20.2 million shares.
