Traditional Leaders Caught Allocating Lands illegally will Face the Law- FCT Minister.

Traditional Rulers, Local Chiefs and District heads in Abuja Nigeria’s capital, have been warned to desist from illegal allocation of lands to unsuspecting individuals as anyone caught allocating land to individuals illegally will face the full wrath of the law.

The warning is coming at the time authority of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, is grapples with the challenges of removing illegal structures and putting a stop to all forms of illegal developments within the nation’s capital.

Speaking the mind of the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, the Mandate Secretary, Area Council Services Secretariat, Alhaji Ibrahim Dantsoho said it is becoming worrisome that some of the roles Royal Fathers Play in the deliberate distortion of the Abuja Master Plan which has led to illegal development of settlements that are alien to the mater plan.

The Administration stated this through the Mandate Secretary Area Councils service Secretariat when he paid a courtesy visit on the palace of the paramount ruler of Karu (Sakaruyi of Karu) HRH. Emmanuel Kyauta Yepwi

According to Alhaji Dantsoho, ” Your Royal Highness, as I was planning to embark on this tour, the honourable Minister Mallam Mohamed Musa Bello and her Excellency Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliu asked me to convey this message to all traditional rulers within the FCT so that they can in turn inform their chiefs, Village heads and District Heads that anyone still in the habit of allocating plots of Land to individuals should desist from such act or be ready to have the full wrath of the law”.

” It is only the FCT Minister FCT that can allocate land in the Federal Capital Territory and that is a role he performs on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who happens to be the Governor General of the FCT”.

Speaking on lthe Security, Alhjai Dantsoho used the occasion to convey the position of the FCT Administration to the Royal Fathers, urging them to do everything possible to make sure there is no breakdown of Law and order during the forth coming Area Council elections in the six area councils making the FCT.

He charged the Royal fathers to desist from making political statements and openly supporting one candidate against the other in order not to cause troubles before, during, and after the election.

” You Highness, the Ministers of the FCT urged me to let you know that in your chiefdoms, the government will not tolerate the break down of law and order as a result of this election in your
area, they said what expected of you and your kinsmen is to preach the gospel of peace. When they come to seek for your Royal Blessing there is a need for you to caution them”

“You are a father to everyone, give your blessings to candidate that comes to the Palace and also make them to understand that elections will come and go but our brotherhood will remain”, he explained further.

The visit to the palace of the Sakaruyi of Karu was part of activities of the Familiarisation Tour of Abuja Municipal Area Council embarked upon by the secretary designed to serve as an on-the-spot assessment of Area councils and also a feedback mechanism for the FCT administration.
