The traditional ruler of Asaba, Joseph Edozien, has endorsed the Asaba 10km Road Race scheduled for April 30 in the Delta State capital.

The Asagba of Asaba threw his weight behind the project, while receiving the Community Marathon Torch from the organisers in his palace.

The monarch, who gave his blessings, also lauded the initiative, which he stated would help create healthy living, foster unity and communal love amongst the people of Asaba and Delta State at large.

Organisers of the Community Marathon Series said a record number of participants are expected at the Asaba edition.

According to Project Director of the event, Moses Nwanze, the Asaba marathon is expected to consolidate on the gains and success of the previous editions.

The Community Marathon Series officially started October 2, 2021 with the Festac 10km road race, where Ismael Sadjo of Cross River State emerged winner in the male category, while Joy Abiye David won the female event. The duo also repeated the feat at the second edition held in Lekki on January 29.

The first top three athletes to cross the line at the Asaba 10km Road Race will get cash rewards.
