TRADOC Commander Urges Students To Leverage Social Media

The Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe has encouraged students of Government Army Day Secondary School, Minna, to leverage social media for career development and educational advancement.

Maj. Gen. Aligbe, who was represented by the Commanding Officer, TRADOC Administration Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ganiyyu Banire, gave the advice during an intra-school debate competition. It was organised by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Minna Military Cantonment.

The debate, aimed at ‘enhancing students’ critical thinking, public speaking, stage management, and presentation skills.’

Speaking at the event, Maj. Gen. Aligbe underscored the vast opportunities that social media offers for learning, skill acquisition, and professional growth.

However, he also cautioned students against the dangers of early exposure to harmful content and urged them to make informed choices in their digital interactions.

In his welcome address, the Corps Liaison Officer (CLO), Olakojo Bamidele appreciated the school’s management for allowing NYSC members to contribute to students’ extra-curricular learning.

The school’s Principal, Mrs. Fatima Umar, expressed gratitude to the TRADOC Commander for his unwavering support, including the donation of educational materials and active engagement in school activities.

She also commended the NYSC members for initiating the debate competition, describing it as the first of its kind in the school.

The competition ended with the recognition of outstanding students, who received medals, trophies, prizes, and cash rewards for their exceptional performances.

The event was attended by senior military officers, including the Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Jibo, represented by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Lagos, and the Commanding Officer, 313 Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Alex Jir. Officers, soldiers from Minna Military Cantonment, and members of the NYSC were also present.
