The Training and Doctrine Command of the Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA) and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Niger State Command, have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in order to enhance security across the state.
This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the NIS Comptroller, Niger State Command, Ibrahim Gado, to the Commander of TRADOC NA, Major General Kevin Aligbe, in Minna.
In his remarks, Comptroller Gado commended the Nigerian Army (NA) for its unwavering support and cooperation with other security agencies in ensuring national security.
He highlighted the longstanding and productive relationship between the NIS and the Army, particularly in Niger State, and expressed appreciation for the Commander’s dedication to inter-agency cooperation.
He reassured TRADOC NA of the NIS’s readiness to deepen their partnership to bolster security efforts across the state.
Responding, Major General Aligbe reaffirmed TRADOC’s commitment to fostering strong synergies with the NIS, emphasising that the Nigerian Army remains steadfast in its mission to support security agencies in creating a safer and more prosperous nation.
He assured the NIS of continued assistance, particularly in capacity building through specialized training, seminars, and workshops.
TRADOC Strengthens Ties with Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation
In a separate engagement, the Provost of Minna Institute of Technology and Innovation, Engr. M.L. Yerima, described TRADOC as a center of excellence within the Nigerian Army during a courtesy visit.
Yerima outlined the institute’s mission to develop skilled manpower through entrepreneurship and digital literacy, stating that thousands of entrepreneurs had been trained in software development, building construction, and hardware engineering.
He called for stronger collaboration with TRADOC NA, particularly in vocational and entrepreneurial training programs for retiring military personnel to equip them with essential post-service skills.
He also emphasised potential partnerships in digital and technological advancements that could benefit both the military and civilian sectors.
Major General Aligbe welcomed the collaboration, underscoring the importance of research and development in modern military operations.
He noted that the Nigerian Army prioritises technology and innovation, citing the establishment of the Department of Transformation and Innovation (DATI) to tackle contemporary security challenges.
He further identified key areas for partnership, including research initiatives and vocational training for barracks youths to equip them with productive skills.
The Commander assured the Provost of TRADOC NA’s support for programs aligned with national development and military innovation.
NYSC Commends TRADOC for Corps Members’ Training and Welfare
During another visit, the Niger State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab, lauded Major General Aligbe for his commitment to the training, support, and welfare of Corps members serving in his formation.
She emphasised that her visit aimed to reinforce the strong relationship between the NYSC and the Nigerian Army in Niger State, particularly through TRADOC NA. She praised the Commander for integrating Corps members into training activities, shaping them into future leaders and responsible citizens.
In response, Major General Aligbe reaffirmed TRADOC’s role as the Nigerian Army’s center of excellence, responsible for coordinating training activities, developing military doctrine, and evaluating Army training schools to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
He noted that Corps members play an important role in the planning and execution of various training programs, which are designed to instill leadership skills and positive behavioral attributes in young Nigerians.
The Commander pledged continued collaboration and support for the NYSC, describing the scheme as a vital partner in national development.
NEMA Seeks Stronger Collaboration with TRADOC on Disaster Management
In another development, Mr. Hussaini Isa, Head of Operations for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Niger and Kwara States, called for enhanced collaboration with the Nigerian Army in the areas of training and disaster management.
Isa made this appeal on Thursday, March 20, 2025, when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commander of TRADOC NA in Minna.
He stressed the need for the Nigerian Army’s partnership in training and capacity building for NEMA personnel, logistical support during relief material distribution, protection of critical NEMA assets in Niger and Kwara States, and security provision in volatile communities during emergency response operations.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration in disaster assessment and expressed appreciation for the Nigerian Army’s continued support.
Major General Aligbe commended NEMA for its timely response to national emergencies, particularly in Niger and Kwara States. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to supporting NEMA and aiding civil authorities.
He assured the agency of TRADOC’s continued collaboration in organizing capacity-building workshops and seminars to enhance disaster preparedness and response efforts.
Furthermore, General Aligbe urged NEMA to adopt a more proactive approach to disaster prevention, stressing the importance of sound policies and early warning systems to minimize loss of lives and property. He emphasized that preventive measures should be prioritised to enhance national disaster resilience.
The meeting underscored the significance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling security and humanitarian challenges. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving disaster response efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of communities in Niger and Kwara States.
The visits featured the presentation of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ register, and group photographs.
