A documentary on the life of one of Africa’s most iconic musicians, Wizkid, is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Titled Love Live Lagos, the film chronicles Wizkid’s journey from a Nigerian music star to a global sensation whose influence has opened doors for African musicians worldwide.

The documentary will be screened at the festival on June 6, 7, and 11, 2025.

Featuring interviews with key figures such as five-time Grammy-nominated Afrobeat legend Femi Kuti, Wizkid’s manager and partner Jada Pollock, his long-term manager Sunday Are, Julia Adenuga, and Seni Saraki, the documentary offers an intimate look at the people who have supported and shaped his career.

Directed by Karam Gill, the documentary is hailed as a powerful narrative that showcases Wizkid’s meteoric rise and his impact on how Africa is perceived and heard globally.

In addition to the screening, Wizkid and Karam Gill will host a discussion at the festival, where the Nigerian megastar will provide insights into his remarkable career.

This new project comes five years after Wizkid released a short film promoting the deluxe version of his Grammy-nominated album Made in Lagos.

Gill’s documentary further cements Wizkid’s legacy, joining the ranks of iconic musicians like Fela Kuti and William Onyeabor, whose careers have also been immortalised on film.
