The National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal sitting in Kano state has nullified the election of Tarauni Federal Constituency member, Muktar Yerma, of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP over certificate forgery.
The petitioner, Hafizu Kawu of the All Progressives Congress, APC challenged the electoral victory of Muktar Yerima, which the tribunal nullified on Thursday.
The former member of the House of Representatives, Hafizu had petitioned the tribunal, challenging the legitimacy of Yerima’s victory on the basis of a fake certificate.
Yerima was declared winner of the February 18th 2023 election under the platform of the NNPP, defeating the APC candidate, Hafizu Kawu.
Delelivering judgement, the three man panel tribunal, upheld Kawu’s petition and nullified the sitting NNPP member.
