The event, hosted at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity in Onitsha, Anambra State, featured the presentation of various prizes, including cash rewards, to deserving employees by the organization’s management.
Reverend Father Dr. George Adimike, the Communications Director of Trinitas Communications, expressed gratitude to God during the event and underscored the importance of recognizing the hard work and contributions of the organization’s dedicated employees. He emphasized that such acknowledgment is vital for inspiring motivation and strengthening commitment within the workforce.
“This is part of our end-of-the-year activities. There is nothing like marking the year with outstanding successes, it brings joy to the people. We are thanking God as we are signing off for the year 2024 so that next year we will start on a new note.
“God has sustained us from January to December without injury or bad news. So, we have gathered to appreciate Him for what He has done for us and what He would do for us. We are also celebrating outstanding employees who have distinguished themselves in their various fields.
“It is a way of encouraging and appreciating them, without the employees, an organisation cannot exist. The event is also a way to appreciate God especially for His goodness and mercy over the management and staff members of Trinitas Communications,” Adimike said.
The cleric highlighted the value of recognizing exceptional employees through a transparent voting process designed to motivate staff to excel in their respective roles. He reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to maintaining the quality of its publication, Trinitas Newspaper, despite the economic challenges facing the industry.
“The outgoing year posed significant challenges for the newspaper industry, with skyrocketing newsprint costs severely affecting revenue. However, the industry must persevere,” Fr. Adimike stated. “Newspaper managers need to adopt innovative approaches to navigate these obstacles. Despite the surge in online and social media platforms, the newspaper industry will endure. At Trinitas, we are determined to remain in circulation with creative innovations, even if it requires reducing print volumes.”
Announcing the best-performing staff of 2024, Arinze Anieto, a member of the Catholic Artists and Entertainers Association of Nigeria (CAEAN), revealed that Chisom Agu was chosen based on votes cast by Trinitas Communications staff. He praised the leadership of Trinitas Communications, particularly its director, for elevating the newspaper’s reputation, and announced that the award winner would receive N100,000.
Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike, who also serves as the Press Secretary to His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, Archbishop of Onitsha, disclosed that Chisom Agu would receive additional rewards, including N300,000 from the Faithspiration Initiative Family, alongside individual cash gifts from Rev. Fr. Vincent Chukwuka, Editor of Trinitas Newspaper; Rev. Fr. Samuel Nwankwo, Deputy Director of Trinitas Communications; and Fr. Adimike himself. Additionally, Agu’s portrait would be displayed in the Trinitas Communications common room for a year as further recognition of his hard work.
Fr. Adimike emphasized that the award was open to all staff, regardless of department or role, reiterating that every employee is valued equally. “Whether from the folding section, secretarial office, or editorial team—male or female—they are all my children. This demonstrates that anyone can emerge as the best staff.”
In his acceptance speech, Chisom Agu expressed heartfelt gratitude to his colleagues and management for the honor, dedicating the award to his mother.
The event also featured lively activities such as a drinking competition, Secret Santa, round-chair dancing, and comedy by CAEAN member Nebedim Nnaemeka. It drew attendees from the Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), CAEAN, and other notable groups.
