Troops Bust Kidnapping Syndicate in Taraba State

Troops from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have dismantled a notorious kidnapping syndicate in Taraba State, North-East Nigeria.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, spokesperson for the 6 Brigade, confirmed the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle during the operation.

The suspects, identified as Suleiman Ahmad and Hussaini, were apprehended in Maraban Abare, Bomanda, and Karamuke village areas of Lau Local Government Area.

Ahmad admitted to being involved in the kidnapping of over 20 individuals and extorting a total of 70 million Naira from victims. Hussaini, a suspected gunrunner, was captured in Mayo Dassa.

The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding citizens and dismantling criminal networks and also urges the public’s cooperation and vigilance, which are crucial in achieving these objectives.
