Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have delivered significant blows to Boko Haram elements, thwarting attacks, dismantling supply chains, and arresting 17 suspects in coordinated operations across North-East Nigeria.

Military authorities disclosed that the operations, conducted between 28 and 30 March 2026, focused on disrupting both planned assaults and the logistics lifelines sustaining terrorist groups in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Spokesperson for the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, detailed the successes in a statement released to Voice of Nigeria.

According to the statement, troops deployed in Damboa successfully foiled a planned terrorist attack after detecting insurgent movement through surveillance systems.

A firefight ensued, forcing the attackers to withdraw in disarray. Similar attempts to target farmers and communities in the Gwoza and Askira Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State were also repelled, with fleeing insurgents retreating towards the Mandara Mountains.

In a related development, troops uncovered and safely detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the Goniri–Ngamdu axis.

Recovery of rail tracks at the scene suggested an attempt to canalise vehicles into a designated kill zone, underscoring ongoing efforts by terrorists to disrupt movement along critical routes.

A significant breakthrough was recorded in the fight against terrorist financing and supply networks.

Troops intercepted a convoy along the Maiduguri–Mafa road transporting what officials described as two truckloads of contraband.

The consignments, concealed in sacks, included medical drugs, motorcycle tubes, tyres, mosquito nets, and detergents.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the items were being transported without clearance towards Kusuri, a border community near Chad. The drivers and vehicles have been detained for further investigation.

In Maiduguri, operatives arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Mohammed Adamu, 26, at Muna Garage.

Items recovered from him included 25 litres of engine oil concealed in sacks, ₦624,900 in cash, and a mobile phone.

Authorities believe he had been supplying motorcycle parts and other materials to terrorist cells over an extended period.

The crackdown extended to Gubio, where troops, in collaboration with intelligence operatives and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested 13 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers and collaborators.

Two additional suspects apprehended in the same area have reportedly confessed to long-term involvement in supplying insurgents.

In a separate operation, troops arrested a suspected member of the JAS/ISWAP terrorist group, identified as Abubakar Ali, alias “Saina”, at the Kilo Papa checkpoint while transiting to Maiduguri.

Further interrogation suggested he was on a reconnaissance mission. A suspected kidnapper was also apprehended in the Azir area of Damboa.

Meanwhile, clearance and cordon-and-search operations at Wulgo Junction, Gamboru Motor Park, and surrounding locations led to the recovery of 450 wraps of suspected marijuana and other illicit substances, although suspected drug peddlers reportedly fled upon sighting troops.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba noted that the Military High Command has commended the troops for their resilience and professional conduct, urging them to sustain the operational tempo to deny terrorists freedom of action across the theatre.

All arrested suspects and recovered items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
