Troops Foil Bandits Attack, Recover Weapons in Taraba

Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Whirl Stroke, have foiled an attack by armed bandits in Majebiyu Village, Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, North-East Nigeria.

The operation followed a distress call from residents on the 9th of October, 2025. The troops responded swiftly and engaged the assailants in a gun duel, forcing them to flee the area..

In a statement, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to “mopping up illegally acquired weapons and maintaining peace across Taraba State.”

He urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to provide credible information that would assist security agencies in their operations.

According to him, the Brigade remains committed to ensuring that such weapons are not used to perpetrate criminal acts within the state and its environs.”

The Nigerian Army said the successful operation underscores its determination to ensure the safety and security of citizens in the region.
