The Special Task Force, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), has officially handed over a cache of arms and ammunition confiscated from criminal elements to the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW).

During the handover ceremony in Jos, Plateau State, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of OPSH, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, said the move aligns with the Federal Government’s initiative to curb violence caused by the uncontrolled spread of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW).

“Between 2024 and the present date, the task force successfully recovered a total of 220 small arms and light weapons from criminal groups. In addition, 1,874 rounds of ammunition and 83 cartridges were seized during the same period,” General Oyinlola stated.

He appealed to citizens to support government efforts aimed at eliminating illegal arms and fostering a safe, arms-free society, noting that OPSH has made significant progress through military operations and civil engagement strategies.

Speaking on behalf of the Director-General of NCCSALW, Mr Abdul Adamu, the Deputy Director-General commended OPSH for tackling armed criminality and urged the public to assist in the broader goal of eradicating illicit weapons.
