Troops Rescue Two, Intercept Gun Smuggler in Kaduna

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested a suspected gun runner in separate operations in Plateau and Kaduna states.

According to a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operations Enduring Peace, Chinonso Oteh (captain), troops deployed at Wase in Plateau State rescued the victims during a patrol around Kukawa in Kanam Local Government Area.

The soldiers reportedly encountered suspected kidnappers transporting the victims to a hideout who fled into nearby bushes on sighting the troops, abandoning the captives.

The statement reads that, “Preliminary findings indicate that the victims were abducted at gunpoint on February 22, 2026, from Mansur village in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The victims have been debriefed, and efforts are underway to reunite them with their families as Troops continue search operations to track down the fleeing suspects.”

Similarly, the Kaduna State troops deployed at Sanga intercepted a suspected gun runner during a stop-and-search at Kurmin Goro village. The 36-year-old suspect, identified as Vincent Ibrahim, was allegedly transporting five locally fabricated rifles to Kafanchan when he was apprehended.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, commended the troops for their swift action and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the Joint Operations.

Operation Enduring Peace, as it will sustain its fight against criminal elements threatening peace in the region.
