Troops of the 2 Battalion, Nigerian Army have subdued several armed bandits in Ungwan Danko village, Birnin Gwari Local government area, a village close to Kidandan town of Giwa Local council of Kaduna State.
The bandits had earlier invaded the village, abducted four persons; one woman and three children and attempted to retreat from the village but the troops laid an ambush and intercepted the bandits, cutting off their escape.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in the state’s security update in Kaduna.
According to him, in the ensuing firefight, several bandits were neutralized, others escaped with bullet wounds while one AK47 rifle and some rounds of ammunition were recovered.
“All four victims were rescued. They are; Halisa Aliu, Idris Ilyasu, Amina Sahaibu and Shaaban Aliu.” Aruwan mentioned.
The Commissioner said Governor Nasiru El-Rufai has commended the troops for executing the successful ambush and received with elation the news of the rescued victims.
Aruwan urged all residents of the general area to report anyone found seeking medical attention or with suspicious wounds to the nearest military and police formations, or reach the Kaduna State Security Operations on these numbers: 09034000060, 08170189999
The Commissioner gave assurances of continuous vigorous patrols in the general area.
