U.S to donate 500m COVID-19 vaccine doses
United States President Joe Biden’s administration plans to donate 500 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to other countries over the next two years.
He said as he landed in the UK at the start of his first foreign trip as U.S President, the U.S has been under pressure to raise vaccination rates in poor countries.
About 200 million doses will be distributed this year, with the remainder delivered in 2022.
The President said when asked if the U.S government had a vaccination strategy fir the world, “I have one, and I’ll be announcing it.”
The White House is yet to officially comment on the plan to roll out 500 million doses worldwide.
