Bameyi was booked in the 85th minute for a late tackle against Mozambique in a final Group A match, which Nigeria won to advance to the last eight of the competition.

Sweden-based Abel Ogwuche is most likely to start in place of the suspended Bameyi in the quarterfinal.

Before the suspension, Bameyi has played every minute of the U20 AFCON for Nigeria.

Winners of the quarterfinals will book their ticket to this year’s FIFA U20 World Cup to be hosted by Indonesia in May.
