The University of Jos Aluminium Association (UJAA) has planted 100 varieties of trees at the Naraguta Campus to mark the university’s 50th anniversary.
Dr Gad Shamaki, UJAA President, said the initiative was aimed at addressing climate change and enhancing the university’s environment.
He explained the effort was in collaboration with the Change Makers of the Rotary Club, Jos, which supported the initiative.
“This move is symbolic, as it represents the university’s rich history and bright future,” Shamaki said.

He thanked the Rotary Club for their support and called on other groups and individuals to emulate the gesture.
Shamaki said the trees planted symbolised “a seed of hope for future generations” of the university community.
He added that the initiative was to help promote a culture of environmental responsibility among staff and students.
Prof. Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor, was represented by Prof. Joash Amupitan, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).
He appreciated UJAA and the Rotary Club, saying the trees would enhance serenity, biodiversity, and serve as learning resources.
