UK Applauds Governor Zulum’s Commitment to Regional Stability

The United Kingdom has commended Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, for his dedication to combating insurgency and fostering stability in the region.
Deputy British High Commissioner, Gill Atkinson, conveyed this commendation during a courtesy visit to the Governor’s office in Maiduguri on Monday.
“On behalf of the British Government, I acknowledge and appreciate His Excellency’s efforts in addressing insurgency and supporting the people of Borno State, particularly those displaced by the conflict. His commitment to securing a prosperous future for them is commendable,” Atkinson stated.
She further reaffirmed the UK’s unwavering support for peace, stability, and long-term solutions in the region, particularly through its involvement in the ongoing regional stabilization initiative.
In response, the Secretary to the Borno State Government, who received the Deputy High Commissioner on behalf of Governor Zulum, expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued partnership and assistance.
“We have a strong and productive collaboration with the UK Government. His Excellency deeply values this relationship and has specifically instructed me to extend his heartfelt appreciation,” he said.
The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Emet Kois; Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe; Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio; Commissioner for Transport and Energy, Aliyu Mohammed Bamanga; and Commissioner for Inter-Governmental and Special Duties, Tukur Shani.
Also present were the Special Adviser on Security, Abdullahi Ishaq; Senior Technical Assistant on Political Affairs, Alhaji Tahiru Shettima; Permanent Secretary for Political and Cabinet Affairs, Danjuma Ali; and Executive Secretary of the Borno State Agency for Coordination of Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response (BOACSDHR), Babakura Mamman Gadai.
