The United Kingdom has debunked reports credited to some media organisations that it suspended student, work and family visas for Nigerian applicants.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the British High Commission in Nigeria.

The Commission noted that it was aware of reports circulating in the Nigerian media that the UK has suspended all its visa applications

It, therefore, clarified that the British High Commission had on 15 March 2022 issued a statement on temporary suspension of only priority visas

The Commission maintained that Nigerians can apply for any category of UK visa in the usual way via their Visa Applications Centres (VAC) in the country.

“Due to a reprioritisation of resources in response to the humanitarian crisis arising from the invasion of Ukraine, the UK has temporarily suspended its priority visa service.”

According to the British High Commission in Nigeria, the suspension is to enable the UK global visa operation to prioritise applications for the new Ukraine Family Scheme.
