UNILORIN Alumni Association honors 16 first-class graduates

The Alumni Association of the University of Ilorin has celebrated 16 best-graduating students of class 2024 of the university at its maiden award ceremony and honors luncheon.

Similarly, 23 past alumni of the university including the Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor of Lagos State, Gboyega Rasaq Akoshile, and the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN), were honoured.

The National President of the association, Professor Abdulrazaq Kilani disclosed that the event was organised to celebrate the best graduating students who have distinguished themselves and to also remind the alumni of the need to give back to their alma mater.

According to him, the association is honouring some of its valued alumni because of their contributions to society and to remind them that the University of Ilorin is proud of their accomplishments.

He added that Unilorin is monitoring their progress and the giant strides they are making and to remind them that it is time to give back to their Alma mater as valued Alumni.

Kilani also announced plans by the association to embark on three projects namely the re-modeling of the alumni secretariat, the construction of a male hostel to complement the existing one, and an alumni guest house that will also provide accommodation to visitors to the school.

Speaking with journalists, Akoshile urged the newly graduating students to leverage the digital skills they acquired while in school to make a difference in their various fields of endeavors where they might find themselves in the future.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Wahab Egbewole who was also honored charged the alumni and the new graduates to harness the best opportunities available in their various disciplines to make their alma mater great.
