The Obosi Development Union (ODU) Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliatives (SAEP) Committee Worldwide has forged a collaborative relationship with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Anambra State, focusing on entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and business linkages as part of the upcoming Obosi 1 Household 2 Skills Project graduation.

During a mid-session training and evaluation seminar in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, south eastern Nigeria, presented by the Obosi Innovative Skills and Empowerment Programme (OBISEP), Nze Chisom Onugha, Chairman of the ODU Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliatives (SEAP) Committee Worldwide, announced that United Bank for Africa (UBA) has introduced beneficial funding account packages for successful trainees of the Obosi 1 Household 2 Skills Project.

“We are currently in discussions to develop a more robust, sustainable, and accessible funding product with UBA,” he stated.

Nze Onugha, also known as Ebube-Ife, emphasised that the ODU SAEP initiative was designed to instill hope and provide alternative livelihoods through innovative skills acquisition training and other necessary empowerment schemes for disadvantaged and vulnerable citizens of Obosi.

“This initiative aims to combat social vices and unemployment within our society. We believe that effective security of lives and property can be ensured through job creation, human resource development, and instilling a sense of belonging,” he said.

The OBISEP pilot phase, tagged Obosi 1 Household 2 Skills, is currently funded and sponsored by philanthropic sons and daughters of the ancient Obosi kingdom through the ODU Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliatives (SAEP) Committee Worldwide.

Nze Onugha expressed hope that the three tiers of Nigerian government—Federal, Anambra State, and Idemili North Local Government Area—alongside public office holders and private institutions, would support and adopt this vital initiative in the near future.

“This partnership is crucial for the sustainability of this project and for it to serve as a catalyst for rapid enterprise development and industrialisation in our nation,” Onugha added.

Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the Eze Obosi ancient kingdom, conveyed his goodwill message through the Chairman, expressing gratitude to the sponsors and urging the youth to take the project seriously.

Nze Chimezie Obi, the President General of ODU Worldwide, noted; “We are localizing the initiatives started by Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the state level,” urging trainees not to let their sponsors down.

Mr Onyeka Onuzurike, one of the speakers at the seminar, encouraged the trainees to build on their character and to embody the fear of God.

Meanwhile, Mrs Chito Onwuzulike, Anambra State manager for SMEDAN, advised participants to seize the opportunity with zeal and wisdom.

The OBISEP project, courtesy of the ODU Skills Acquisition, Empowerment, and Palliatives (SEAP) Committee Worldwide, also included updates on achievements, a documentary presentation, pre-graduation inspection of trainees at product mini exhibition stands, logistical support presentations for the OBISEP master trainers, goodwill contributions from promoters, and testimonies from trainers.
