University center extends corporate social responsibility to community

The University of Ibadan (UI) Center for Social Orientation (CenSO), has taken Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Ajibode, a neighbouring community, as the institution seeks to award its degrees based on learning and character.
While the academic arm of the university concentrates on training, the CenSO seeks to promote good character and ethical orientation among all members of the university community and its environs.
In furtherance of this objective, the Director of the CenSO, Professor Kunbi Labeodan, led a team of the CenSO members on an AntiCultism visitation to the Community High School, Ajibode, to sensitise the children that cultism is evil, illegal, and deadly.
Labeodan explained that the team, including academics, administrators and religious leaders, went to the school with a view to teaching the students the evils inherent in cultism and other antisocial behaviours.
The team advised the children to shun all acts of violence, rape, promiscuity, hooliganism, vandalism, examination malpractices, laziness, indecent dressing and corruption in all its ramifications.
Professor Labeodan assured that the CenSO would reach out to as many components of the university and members of the nearby communities as possible.
The Centre for Social Orientation is an arm of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with a Directorate status in UI, with the mandate to eradicate cultic activities and other anti-social behaviours on the campus.
