The University of Abuja partners with the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) to train students on Electronic Public Relations (E-PR), Media, and Information Operations.

This collaboration aims to boost the capacity of military personnel handling information units.

Acting Vice Chancellor Aisha Sani Maikudi, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration Professor Philip Afaha, praised the Directorate of Army Public Relations for keeping Nigerians informed about military activities.

Professor Afaha commended NASPRI’s efforts to seek knowledge in E-PR, Media, and Information Operations, emphasizing that the military must stay ahead of criminal elements in these areas.

The military should not allow itself to be outthought by criminal elements in the field of Media and Information Operations, Professor Afaha stressed, highlighting the importance of the military’s role as a country’s last line of defence.

The partnership will grant NASPRI access to the University’s Digital Library, the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, and resource persons for research, workshops, and seminars.

This collaboration is a significant step in enhancing the military’s media and information operations capabilities.

Acting Commandant NASPRI, Lt Col Adamu Ngulde, explained that the visit was necessary following the school’s relocation to its permanent site in Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment Giri Abuja on November 6, 2023.

He sought to tap into the University’s expertise in Communication and Media Studies to enhance the knowledge of officers and men sent to NASPRI from the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

Lt Col Ngulde further said the partnership is crucial presently where effective media and information operations are essential for national security and defense.

The commandant added that by leveraging the University’s expertise, NASPRI can enhance its capabilities and better serve the Nigerian Armed Forces.
