US embassy convoy attack: Security forces rescue remaining victims

As investigation intensifies on US consulate convoy attack, joint security forces in the early hours of Friday rescued the remaining two victims abducted unhurt.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Anambra State Command public relations officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.

“The joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State,” it reads.

According to the release, “Operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated.”

Meanwhile, this is coming barely 24hrs after the command briefed the Press on their intensified efforts to unravel the US Consulate envoy ambush.

In the same vein, the Anambra State Government has pledged its resolve to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book and has called on the people of Anambra to come forward with useful information that would help in the investigation.

The state Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo made this known in a press statement signed by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime placing a bounty on any useful information.

“We call on anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the criminals to offer same on our secured security phone numbers or to any of the security agencies and such informant will be handsomely rewarded. Investigations are underway.

 We assure our residents and visitors of our continued commitment to law and order. If anything, this incident has emboldened our drive,” the statement read in parts.
