USAID- IHP embarks on Digital Health in Ebonyi State

Ebonyi State Government Southeast Nigeria in Collaboration with United States Agency for International Development USAID-Integrated Health Program IHP have launched Accountability hot lines to serve as Chanel of communication that can help the people of the State to access healthcare services in a digital way.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezuruike, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Ogbonnaya Onwe stated this during the launching at P-nobl Hotels, Affikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Dr Onwe said Ebonyi State has queued into Digital Health platform.

We have capacity building branch, where training information are kept online, health workers and other service providers can call a dedicated line, make enquiries even when they are doing procedures, in response, they will get audio message that can remind them what they have forgotten”.

“This one we are doing today is a feedback mechanism where there will be a dedicated line ‘321’ for people using Airtel Network, which is toll free, and ‘07080601391’ for other networks but this particular number can attract some charges, which people who are accessing healthcare services can call and report directly to the management on the experience they had in hospital while receiving healthcare.

The USAID-IHP Senior Monitoring Evaluation and learning Manager, Mr Nnanke Etimita said “it is accountability hotline, so the essence of the hotline is to get feedback, it helps to measure the satisfaction or dissatisfaction a client got in each of the health facilities where IHP is providing support”.

The USAID-IHP Senior Digital Health Program Manager, Mr Nii Lante encouraged the people of Ebonyi State to always make use of this toll-free line in order to access their Healthcare Digitally.

Also, the USAID-IHP Monitoring, Evaluation, learning and Health Information Management System Specialist, Mr Kinsley Otueze said IHP is totally out to improve on Healthcare delivery of Ebonyi people, hence the launch of the toll-free number.

Otueze who is also the State Digital Health Focal Person further encouraged people to embrace the opportunity.

Also one of the IHP partners, which is a none Governmental Organization NGO known as Anada Maga Universal Relief Team Amurt, led by Mr Uguru Stephen said the Digital Health Program is a welcome Development.
